Wow - even most of the Indians know what is going on. 500,000 is a conservative figure. It's more like 2-3 million if you include L-1s and overstayers. This rampant fraud is finally coming out. I think the U.S. gov't knows what is going on and I think Premji finally realizes the jig is up. Question now is: will we start seeing deportations or not? I think the tide has finally turned.

I wouldn't mind Indian hypocrisy IF they were the best - but everything they touch DIES. They are delusional. They think they are better than everyone else, they take over companies, kick American workers out, and then the companies all FAIL. Peoplesoft anyone? How about Sun? Let me tell you something how US is changing. Its not the same country you grew up or your parents grew up in. Infact the US administration is seeing a clear shift in the global power and you will see in another 2 decades US will not be the only superpower it will have to share that with China India and perhaps Russia again.
The way protectionism is being sold with "BUY USA CLAUSE" or "HIRE AMERICAN CLAUSE" we are going to loose the global competitiveness, and and end up as a bankrupt nation. Infact just to give you an example, no of Boeing's being purchased by US Airlines this year is less than 100,but orders from India are 450 and still growing. If India decided that they did not want to buy stuff made in US and decided to go to Airbus, believe me Boeing would be filling chapter 11,same will be with GE which has over 50% of its revenues coming from overseas with Max from India.Not far behind are companies like IBM and HP who project that they will have over 60% of their earning coming from these countries. Think what will happen to US if these large economies decided to have a similar protectionism for their economies. All we will have in US left will be an aging population to take care of with a bankrupt Social Security and Medicare and huge debt. The reality is that China which is the largest buyer of our debt has already warned that they will stop buying the debt.. and nobody else has the capacity to buy our debt.That apart global economies are warning that if we do not take care of our huge deficit and debt they might not bail us out by buying our future debt.
Lets move away from protectionism and open up our mind in case we want to be competitive. Lets not turn our Technology sector into another General Motors...
I also think the Indian companies threats of a trade war are ridiculous. Just because you have the support of sociopaths like Steve Ballmer and Vivek Wadhwa doesn't mean that you'd win a trade war with the United States of America.

I think the microscope that places like IV puts USCIS under actually hurts their cause. Before indians entered the picture, immigration was a rather vague and confusing process (and purposefully so. nobody wanted to create a system that could be gamed and abused.)
however now that US immigration policy is like a field of study for these IV core people, they are starting to find USCIS is turning a deaf ear to them.. USCIS isnt interested in transparency and its much easier to just deny the indian guest worker a place in middle class America than make everything transparent so it can be fiddled and focked with to the detriment of American workers.

As for never going above junior programmer, I have been Tech Lead on a number of commercial products. Tech Lead, developer, project manager, and turnaround specialist ALL AT THE SAME TIME. 100,000 fake certificates found in Bihar
Patna, Jan 8 (IANS) Over 100,000 fake certificates of various Indian universities have been found in a Bihar town, police said Thursday, even as the government cracks down on irregularities in the education system.Acting on a tip off, a police team raided five places in Biharsharif town in Nalanda district, 100 km from here, and unearthed the racket in fake certificates. It involved three people, including a man and his father-in-law, police said.
More than 100,000 fake certificates and thousands of incomplete ones were found, a police official in Biharsharif told IANS on telephone.
